Trump Pardons Embattled Self-Driving Engineer Anthony Levandowski

The Trump administration granted a total pardon to Anthony Levandowski, the previous head of Google’s self-driving vehicle division.

In a memo, the administration explained Levandowski “paid a considerable rate for his steps and programs to devote his skills to progress the public excellent.” The memo also cites a estimate from the sentencing judge in the case, Choose William Alsup, contacting Levandowski a “brilliant, groundbreaking engineer that our place requirements.”

It is really worth noting that Alsup also denied Levandowski’s request for dwelling confinement, saying it would give a “green light” in the long run for “every future good engineer to steal trade tricks. Jail time is the response to that.”

Levandowski was not set to commence his jail sentence until immediately after the risk of COVID-19 passed.
